Care Tips: Egeria densa, commonly known as "Anacharis" or "Brazilian Waterweed," is a fast-growing, hardy aquatic plant that works well in both high-tech and low-tech aquariums. It thrives under medium to high lighting, which helps maintain its lush green appearance. Egeria densa grows quickly, making it excellent for filling up space in your aquarium or for providing cover for fish. It can grow in a wide range of water conditions, but it performs best with stable, slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–7.5). The plant benefits from a nutrient-rich substrate and regular fertilization, especially with iron and micronutrients. While CO₂ supplementation is not strictly necessary, it can further enhance growth and overall plant health. This plant’s rapid growth rate can help reduce excess nutrients in the water, which may assist in controlling algae growth. Regular pruning is needed to manage its size and encourage healthy, bushy growth. It can be used in the midground to background of aquascapes and works well for creating a natural, soft look in the aquarium.
