Care Tips: Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides, commonly known as "Brazilian Pennywort," is a fast-growing, low-maintenance plant that forms dense mats in aquariums. When purchased in tissue culture form, it is free from pests and diseases, making it an excellent, clean addition to your aquarium. This plant thrives under medium to high lighting and benefits from CO₂ supplementation, which encourages more vigorous and compact growth. Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides is well-suited for both submerged and emersed growth, and it works wonderfully as a foreground plant, where it creates a soft, green carpet. It is adaptable to a range of water conditions and can tolerate slightly acidic to neutral pH levels. Regular trimming is necessary to maintain its compact shape and prevent overgrowth. Its dense, round leaves provide excellent coverage and offer great hiding spots for small fish and shrimp, making it an excellent choice for community tanks. It’s also a great plant for beginners due to its ease of care.
