Care Tips: Hydrocotyle tripartita, commonly known as "Japanese Pennywort," is a fast-growing and versatile plant that is perfect for creating lush foreground coverage or adding greenery to the midground of your aquascape. When bought in tissue culture form, it is free of pests and algae, making it a clean and healthy start for your aquarium. This plant thrives in medium to high lighting conditions and grows best with CO₂ supplementation, which promotes vibrant green growth. Hydrocotyle tripartita prefers a nutrient-rich substrate to support its growth but can also grow in moderate conditions. Its fast growth rate can cause it to spread quickly, so regular trimming is essential to prevent it from overgrowing and to maintain its compact shape. It works well in both emersed and submerged setups and adds a lovely texture and unique leaf shape to any aquascape. Additionally, it provides hiding spots for shrimp and small fish, making it an excellent choice for community tanks.
