Care Tips: Nymphaea Rubra, commonly known as the Red Water Lily, is a stunning aquatic plant famous for its striking red flowers and large, broad leaves. It requires medium to high lighting for optimal growth and is well-suited to aquariums with sufficient space or outdoor ponds. The plant thrives in warm temperatures between 22–30°C and prefers slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 6.0–7.5). It has a medium to fast growth rate and can spread quickly, forming beautiful floating lily pads. Nymphaea Rubra does best when planted in the substrate with a nutrient-rich base to support its vigorous growth. It also benefits from CO2 supplementation and occasional liquid fertilization to keep its flowers vibrant. This plant is most often placed in the background of aquariums or ponds, where it can spread and bloom freely. Regular trimming of dead leaves or spent flowers will help keep the plant healthy and encourage new growth. Propagate by dividing the rhizomes or by taking offsets from the mother plant. Be mindful of its size, as it can outgrow smaller tanks if not properly maintained.
