Care Tips: Ophiopogon Japonica, commonly known as "Mondo Grass," is a hardy, slow-growing aquatic plant often used in aquascaping for its fine-textured, grass-like leaves. It thrives in low to medium light, making it an excellent choice for aquariums with softer, ambient lighting. The plant prefers a temperature range of 18–28°C and tolerates slightly acidic to neutral water (pH 6.0–7.5). Due to its slow growth rate, it requires little maintenance and does well in a nutrient-rich substrate. While it does not necessarily require CO2 supplementation, it can benefit from occasional liquid fertilization to encourage lush growth. Ophiopogon Japonica is ideal for the foreground or midground in aquascapes, providing a soft, grassy carpet effect. It is also great for filling gaps between other plants or creating a contrast with larger species. Propagate this plant by dividing clumps or cutting and replanting individual runners. Regular water changes and clean substrate help to maintain good growing conditions.
