Care Tips: Echinodorus tenellus, also known as "Pennywort" or "Dwarf Sword Plant," is a fast-growing foreground plant that creates a lush, carpet-like effect in aquariums. It thrives under medium to high lighting, which promotes dense growth and vibrant green foliage. It benefits from a nutrient-rich substrate and regular fertilization, especially with iron and micronutrients. While CO₂ supplementation is not strictly necessary, it will greatly enhance growth and prevent the plant from becoming leggy or sparse. Echinodorus tenellus has a rapid growth rate and will need regular trimming to maintain its compact appearance. It works best in the foreground of aquascapes, where it can form a dense carpet of small, rounded leaves. This plant is adaptable to a wide range of water conditions, though slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–7.5) is ideal. It’s an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced aquascapers looking to create a lush, low-maintenance foreground plant in their aquarium.
